General information The main place and tourist center on the western coast of the island of the same name, in the northern part of a well-protected bay. The area is characterized by beautiful landscapes with a rich evergreen forest, rocks and clean sea. Almost the entire shoreline consists of beaches. Especially interesting are white-headed vultures on the island and Vransko Lake Nature Park. The economy is based on agriculture, vegetable growing, wine growing, fishing and tourism. The tourist offer includes accommodation in hotels, apartments and camping sites. The gastronomic offer consists of healthy fruit and vegetables, as well as medicinal brandies. The sports and recreational offer encompasses tennis, mini-golf, table tennis, as well as water sports, sailing, surfing, diving and underwater fishing. We recommend: A visit to the village of Orlec, 12 km from the town of Cres, habitat of the white-headed vulture. Additional facilities: Those interested in diving can take diving courses in the diving clubs Lambert, Padi Diving Cres or RC Beli. The well-known Cres-CUP regatta takes places here. Its most famous cultural and entertainment events are ‘The Old Ships Celebration’ at the beginning of July, end of the season celebrated on August 31st, and Lubenice Music Evenings.
