General information
A place in the central part of Istria, 20 km northeast of Rovinj, on the edge of Limska draga, on an open limestone plateau, at an altitude of 281 m. The economy is based on agriculture and stockbreeding, while the inhabitants grow healthy food. It lies at the intersection of the main road Istarski Y and a regional road, as well as on the railway Divaca-Pula. We recommend Kanfanar to lovers of nature, green meadows, cycling and walking. The town of Dvigrad, an interesting archeological site, lies in the immediate vicinity. Jakovlja, a traditional festivity dedicated to Sv. Jakov, is celebrated the last Saturday in July, when the traditional event “Boskarin Day” is also held – dedicated to an autochthonous and protected breed of Istrian cattle.
