Those interested in diving courses can take diving lessons in the diving club Calypso. The cultural and historic sites include the Early Baroque parish church sv. Mihovil from the 17th century, the so-called ‘Happy man’s house’ with its interesting inscription on the façade: ‘Thank you Lord for my stay in this world’, sv. Roko church, sv. Duh church, part of the upper town, Funtana, which leads to the Renaissance fortress Peovica (Mirabela), Poljicki Square where the column of shame from the 17th century and a Baroque palace can be found, Fortica Fortress from the 16th century, as well as the Town Museum housing a collection of artifacts from Omis’ history, an archeological collection and the Poljicki Constitution.

The Dalmatian Men’s Choir Festival takes place in Omis from July 2 to July 24. Excursions to the surroundings, Cetina River, excursion area Radmanove mlinice, 49 m high Gubavica Waterfall, Mosor Mountain, as well as to Poljica, former Poljicka Republic that was abolished by the French in the 19th century.
General information
Well-known as a medieval pirate center, at the mouth of the Cetina River. The mountain, river and interesting town center with fortresses are part of the picturesque surroundings. The town has a sandy beach almost one kilometer long, while the shallow waters stretch nearly 700 m from the coast. The locals are proud of their private accommodation, healthy food included in their gastronomic offer and Cetina-Zadvarje-Gubavica Canyon, the highlight of the area. The economy includes agriculture, fishing, textile and food industry, as well as tourism. Guests have at their disposal various sports and recreational activities including soccer field, basketball, tennis, boccia and beach volleyball. There are 30 free climbing areas in the Cetina Canyon. Water sports equipment can be rented. Swimming marathons for amateurs are organized.
