In Kastel Stafilic grows an olive tree with a 6,20 m wide trunk, and a crown top of 18 m. We recommend walks to this protected nature monument. Visits to the site Resnik, a Greek settlement, archeological site Bijaci (north of the airport in Resnik), sv. Nofro church on the nearby hill and sv. Juraj church in Zestinj.
General information
One of seven towns in the Kastel area located northwest of Split in the Kastelanski field. It is 17,5 km from Split. Kastelansko field is separated from the inland by Trecanica (602 m), Opora (650 m) and Kozjak (780 m) mountains that are connected to Mosor Mountain (1330 m) by Kliski Pass (360 m). Kastelanski Bay, the southern border of Kastelansko field, is a sunken depression between the above-mentioned mountains to the north and the Splitski Peninsula and the island of Ciovo to the south. The border between land and sea is characterized by shallow waters with numerous smaller beaches, cliffs and islets. Grapes, fruit and vegetables are grown in Kastelanski field. Large industrial plants (plastic factory, ironworks and cement factory) can be found in the eastern part of the Kastel area. Kastel Stafilic offers a Mediterranean ambience accented by beautiful pine forests and sandy beaches with plenty of sunshine.
