We recommend:

Visits to the Pakleni otoci, a small group of islands in front of Hvar, where you can enjoy the sun and the sea in numerous, secluded bays surrounded by trees
General information
A town of rich cultural and historic heritage, placed in a bay, protected by the Pakleni otoci group of islands. Hvar has a century old tourist tradition and is nowadays the tourist center and port on the southwestern side of the island of the same name. The island is well known for its pleasant and mild climate with plenty of sunshine (2715 sunshine hours per year), natural beauties, extensive restaurant offer and numerous sports and recreational facilities. It is a very attractive destination for tourists. Although the summer season is most popular, the winter season is gaining on importance. Health tourism has been developing thanks to favorable climate conditions. The rich subtropical vegetation (palm trees, myrtle, agavas, laurel, rosemary and pines) grows on the island. The cultural and historic heritage includes the cathedral, Franciscan monastery, Hvar theater, fortifications with splendid views of the Pakleni otoci group of islands and the island of Vis. Accommodation is available in hotels, apartments and pensions, while camping site are located in the vicinity. Tourism started to develop in the 1920s. Today, Hvar is one of the most frequently visited tourist centers in Dalmatia. The town has an extensive sports and recreational offer, as well as rich entertainment program, especially in the summer season that lasts longest in this part of Croatia. It is connected to the mainland by ferry lines to Split, Rijeka, Zadar and Dubrovnik. There are also ferry lines to other islands.
