Excursions:
Biokovo – you can arrive to this beautiful mountain by minibus and enjoy the beauties of the pine tree forest all the way to the height of 1762 meters. The island of Hvar – some 15 NM from Brela, we recommend it for an all-day excursion, a visit to the town of Hvar, the tourist center of the island, and Jelsa, known for its traditional wines, and, of course, splendid beaches along the entire coast. Island of Brac – 3 NM from Drasnica, an island of rocks and sun, visits to Zlatni rat Beach, Vidova gora Peak and the small places of Supetar, Postira and Milna are musts. Dubrovnik – all-day excursions to this Gothic, Baroque, Renaissance city all in one, walks on the fortification walls and Stradun. Medugorje – a world-renown place of pilgrimage, placed about 60 km northeast of Makarska. Krka Waterfalls – all-day excursions are possible.
General information
A tourist destination placed 25 km northwest of Makarska, at the foot of Biokovo Mountain. A dense pine tree forest surrounds the beautiful pebble coast and the clean Adriatic sea. It has been known for its natural beauties for centuries. There is also a small marina with berths for boats and yachts. Those interested in culture can visit the medieval church Gospa od Karmela, representing specific 18th century architecture, and sv. Stjepan church from the 19th century. The locals are proud of the quality of private accommodation offered in villas located on the slopes of Biokovo Mountain, several hundred meters above the sea, protected by the shade of century old pine trees. They are particularly proud of the fact that their beach was the first one in Dalmatia to be awarded the Blue Flag, a special acknowledgement of quality handed by the Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe.
We recommend:
Excursions to the Biokovo Botanical Garden, Dubrovnik, Medugorje and island of Hvar and Brac. Visits to the Gospa od Karmela and sv. Stjepan churches
