General information
Selca – place in the interior of the island of Brac. It has an altitude of 114 m and a population of 1117. The economy is based on agriculture, olive and fruit growing, as well as stone carving (there are stone pits in the vicinity). It lies on the road that runs through the island. Nearby Sumartin is connected to Makarska by ferry lines. In the immediate vicinity, on Mount Hum, there are ruins of a prehistoric castle. Placed near the bays of Radonja and Sumartin, the place is known for homegrown food (lamb, cheese, wine and honey). Selca offers excellent conditions for a quiet holiday, pleasant bathing in nearby Sumartin and first class restaurants. Those looking for nightlife and entertainment should go to Bol that is some 20 km away. Poetry evenings are held in Selca on Gospa od Karmela celebration (July 16).
