Located in the facilities of the special hospital for medical rehabilitation are the well-known “Jakob’s” and “Marija’s” baths.
Jakob’s bath dates back to 1863 (it was named after the owner at the time, Jakob Badel), and lies at the very source from which water flows through the oak slabs and fills the bath, creating a unique experience.
As for sports facilities, in the Krapinske Toplice spa bath, guests have at their disposal tennis courts, table tennis, mini golf, football and 5-a-side football fields, basketball, volleyball and bowling alley. Organized excursions to nearby places, where you can visit well-known cultural and historic sites, are offered.
General information
A tourist center known for its rich sources of thermo-mineral water that is the basis for the development of tourism. The spa dates back to Roman times (Aquae Vivae). The construction of the health resort began in 1772, when the first tourists arrived. The water temperature amounts to 39 °C - 41 °C. The daily capacity is 5600 hl. The water is radioactive and particularly rich in calcium, magnesium and hydro-carbonates. The water and medicinal mud are used in the treatment of rheumatism, gout, sciatica, muscle pains, chronic inflammations, heart and nervous system illnesses, for post heart attack and post operation recoveries, metal poisoning and so on. Various sports and recreational facilities (indoor and outdoor pools, tennis, table tennis, mini-golf, boccia, multi-lane bowling alley, indoor and outdoor soccer fields, basketball, volleyball, shooting-range and well-kept walking trails) enable sports activities throughout the whole year.
Krapinske toplice spa is located 17 km southwest of Krapina and 46 km northwest of Zagreb at an altitude of 160 m. The spa is 12 km away from the railway station Veliko Trgoviste on the rail line Zagreb-Varazdin.
