General information
Town in the Hrvatsko Zagorje region, 57 km north of Zagreb. The first urban center when entering Croatia from the northeastern side and the center of Hrvatsko Zagorje. Placed near the river Krapinčica, it lies in an area of peculiar beauty, abundant in gentle hills and romantic castles. Krapina is known the world over as the most important site of remains of Neanderthal man. The site at Hušnjakovo is known for the large number of remains that were found there. Numerous culture and art events take place throughout the entire year. In September – a week of Kajkavian culture with the festival Kajkavske popevke, as well as the children’s festival Kaj u riječi, pjesmi, slici i plesu (Kaj in words, songs, pictures and dances) in June.

Wine roads, forest and hunting areas, fishing on the rivers Krapina and Sutla.
