Terms and conditions for car rental
Insurance
- For any kind of vehicle damage, a POLICE ACCIDENT REPORT must be made and the appropriate forms filled. The nearest Budget branch office must also be notified.
- If the Budget vehicle is damaged, the damage is insurable by compulsory daily extra payment for Collision Damage Waiver (CDW). CDW does not cover the full amount of damage, but only damage up to the deduction amount (see deduction amounts and deduction waiver)
- CDW coverage has some exceptions: CDW does not cover damage to these parts: tires, wheel covers, as well as damage to the chassis, because this type of damage can only be caused by driver carelessness; CDW does not cover damage to the engine caused by lack of oil; CDW does not diminish responsibility for the damage caused by a driver who was under the influence of alcohol or drugs (police report evidence), and if the vehicle was blasted, mined or intentionally burned; CDW does not cover damages caused by a person who is not stated as a driver in the agreement;
- CDW and TP (Theft Protection) covers renter's responsibility in full except for the amount of deduction as follows:

Deduction waiver fee is not included in the price.
By accepting and paying the daily deduction waiver fee, the renter is covered in case of accident completely up to the full damage amount (however, the police report and other exceptions are still valid). If renter does not accept deduction waiver fee he/she will be responsible up to the amount of deduction. If the damage amount is smaller than actual damage amount, renter will pay smaller amount. The remainder will be covered by CDW.- In case of accident, if there is no police report, CDW shall not be applicable at all, and the client shall be responsible for full damage amount.
- TP (theft protection) is not applicable in case of lost keys or loss of documents of the vehicle.
PROCEDURE IN CASE OF TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: Protect the vehicle from further damages, notify the police and the nearest Budget branch office, give a statement and fill out all the necessary forms.
Cross border traffic
All our vehicles are permitted to cross into Western European countries.
Countries into which we do not permit crossing are: Greece, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia and all former states of the USSR, Turkey, Albania.
Entrance into Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia, Montenegro and Macedonia is possible upon request and prior approval by Budget.
Note: TP (Theft protection) is not valid for the area of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Yugoslavia, Montenegro and Macedonia.
Drop off fees
Rental of two days at the minimum and more gives our customers the possibility to rent at one Budget branch office and leave the vehicle at another Budget branch office within Croatia without any drop off fee.
Pick up in Croatia and drop off in a foreign country is not possible at these special rates. Upon specific request, the possibility of such a service and its rate will be made available by our Central reservation department.
Reservation confirmation
Each reservation has to be sent and confirmed by our reservation department at least 24 hours prior to pick-up time. In some exceptional cases during peak season Budget Rent a car reserves the right to refuse to confirm a reservation because of over-booking. Advance booking will completely keep these situations to a minimum.

Rates usually include upon agreement: daily rent (24 hours), unlimited mileage, CDW, TP, deduction waiver fee and Tax.
The price never includes:
Fuel and refueling service fee: If renter returns a vehicle with some missing fuel, the renter will be charged for the estimated quantity of missing fuel at Croatian National Oil Company prices and a refueling fee that amounts to: HRK 100 + TAX. (At vehicle pick-up, the renter is always provided a vehicle with a full gas tank.)
PAI (Personal Accident Insurance) may be purchased and paid over the counter - it is not compulsory (price = HRK 20,00 per day + TAX)
Delay in return of the vehicle is charged as follows:
- 0 – 180 min = free of charge
- 3 - 5 hours = 1/5 daily rate per hour
- 5 h and more = additional day
Extra equipment: Child seats available on request. Fee HRK 30,00 daily + TAX. Roof racks available on request. Fee HRK 30,00 daily + TAX
Reservations: 3 days minimum in advance.
Baby seat (1-2 years) = same as child seat
Booster seat (5+ years) = not available
Rear seat belts = standard equipment in all vehicles.

Payment
Payments can be made with all major credit cards (EC/MC; AMEX, VISA; DINERS), and vouchers issued by travel agencies.
However, for a certain Travel agency voucher to be accepted as a means of payment, an Agreement between the Agency in question and Budget Croatia must be signed.
Due to possible extra costs that cannot be determined in advance such as: fuel and refueling service, late returns, extensions of rental, etc., a credit card blank slip must be left at the counter when picking up the vehicle.
Other details
Age requirements: minimum 21 years of age. Driver must possess a license for at least two years.
Maximum age: no maximum age.
Car models: Listed car models are examples only. Namely, due to the continual renewal of the fleet, Budget cannot guarantee the delivery of a specific model, but only a group of vehicles. For this reason, reservations are to be booked by vehicle group only, not by model. Reservations must contain the group code consisting of 4 letters.
Vehicle pick-up at airports: All Budget branch offices in Croatia are located in the terminals themselves (the airport building) and at visible locations, so there is no need for any special arrangements for picking-up the vehicle or finding the branch office.
